December 9, 2011: TransportationThe holiday season is fast approaching and many students are left wondering how they will get home from the university this break. With a campus shuttle that runs around the university and to shopping centers in the area it’s a matter of why when it comes to the lack of transportation to Bradley International Airport, the Hartford Bus Station, and the Windsor Train Station. Facilities told STN that a few years ago a shuttle was run around the Thanksgiving holiday funded by the Student Government Association. However, due to a lack of student interest and utilization they shut the shuttle down. While it was running a sign-up sheet was required for students and there were serious problems with students signing up and not showing up. Although the shuttle was shut down and hasn’t been run since, Facilities and SGA are both open to the idea of starting it again. There would need to be a large student interest brought up to the Facilities or the SGA office. If students feel very strongly about the issue they should get into contact with the Student Government Association or Facilities.
