STN 2's Mission Statement
STN Channel 2 strives to provide professional broadcasting experience for its all-volunteer membership. STN Channel 2 sets itself apart from other organizations in its continuing effort to involve all members in the decision making process. The organization will continue to grow only with this quality team effort. All members of STN Channel 2, both on-air and production personnel must represent the organization in a professional, respectable manner at all times, whether involved in an organization sponsored event or not. STN Channel 2 is not only representing itself in the presentation of television programming, but also the University of Hartford, as a respected institution of higher education.

Interested in join STN Channel 2?
We are always looking for new members. The experience you will gain will be imperative for a future career in television news. We are looking for student who are dedicated and can have fun while working. This is a great club to meet new friends and see your work being viewed by the entire campus every week.
What is STN 2?
STN is the Student Television Network at the University of Hartford. This Award winning station has been in existence since 1992 and has continued to report important news for college students. We are completely student run and the experience is like no other.
How do I get involved?
Show up! We have General Meetings every Sunday at 3:00Pm on the 3rd floor of the Gengras Student Union, in the Hartford Suite. We air our newscast every Friday live at 5:00pm. For more information email stn@stn2.tv
Do I have to be a journalism student?
Nope. STN welcome students of any major. If you are a journalism student, this is the perfect place for you.
How much experience do I need?
None. You do not need to come in with experience. We will train you. It’s a plus if you do have some television experience, in which we will adapt you to our systems.
What Equipment Does STN use?
We use the most stand equipment in the industry. We use DVC Pro cameras and editing linear editing systems. We also use Avid Express Pro for Non linear editing.
How will STN help prepare me for my future career?
STN teaches all aspects of Television production. Including the technical side, broadcast writing, editing, engineering, advertising, etc. You will also learn how to be a leaders, communicate , teamwork, responsibility.
As a new member, will I be able to anchor, direct, produce etc.?
Absolutely. The work and effort you give will result in the benefits you are able to receive. We highly encourage new members to have major roles in the newscast. You just need to show you are capable of doing the work.
Will STN interfere with my class schedule?
No. STN is completely volunteer. This means you can work around your schedule. It’s a great experience for you to learn how to balance all your responsibilities.
Is STN a paid job?
STN is a student club. There is no payment for volunteering. The director’s board members receive a small stipend for reimbursement in extra personal expenses.
Can only seniors become Director Board members?
Nope. A Directors Board members is someone committed and responsible. You need to be able to lead and teach your individual team and group as a whole. If this is you, then you should run for the position. Voting for all position occur at the end of the academic year.
Have a lot of alumni succeed after being in STN 2?
ABSOLUTELY! A lot of STN Alumni are now in the business as news and sports reporters, producers, director, etc. They still tell us that they would not be were they are today with out joining STN.
