After eight day of heavy rain, last weekend the Hog River flooded over its banks onto the campus roads. The Hog River, connected to the Connecticut River, it flows through downtown Hartford and also through our campus. When a flood occurs, administration follows certain procedures to keep students and faculty SAFE. As soon as administration hears that there may be heavy flooding, they immediately notify students and faculty to move their cars to higher ground. Flood advisories are posted on the schools websites, and emails are sent out to notify students. A flood of this magnitude hasn’t occurred in Hartford since 1955. Many cars were towed to higher grounds, but still some students’ vehicles were damaged in the rain. Some sidewalks and roads were also damaged as a result of the flood, but they are now being repaired.
