With the cold weather coming in, some freshmen are now learning first hand how to take care of themselves with no parents around for comfort. Many freshmen who are living away from home get sick because they may not be taking as good as care of themselves now that they are living on their own. Nurse practitioner, Susan Diehl claims, “For the first time you’re out on your own and you don’t do the things that your parents made you do when you were at home like go to bed at a decent hour.” She also stresses the importance of nutrition to keep healthy during cold season. Some tips for staying healthy include getting plenty of sleep, load up on vitamin c, and wash your hands often.
